WHAT! Domestic And Overseas Rights Of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil Sold For Rs 65 Crore
Kaabil producer Rakesh Roshan has designed the film’s economics in such a manner that it is a win-win situation for all those involved
The Republic Day weekend will see Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil
battle it out with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees at the box-office. While the former’s
trailer has hit the right chords (Kaabil Blind Man Hrithik Roshan Hits A Six:
Trailer Review, Oct 25), we are yet to catch a glimpse of the bootlegger’s
story. Nonetheless, here’s some good news for all you Hrithik fans. Kaabil
producer, Rakesh Roshan has designed the film’s economics in such a manner that
it is a win-win situation for all those involved.

Reports suggest that unlike Hrithik’s other films such as the Krrish series, Bang Bang or Mohenjo Daro, Kaabil has been made on a controlled budget and Rakesh Roshan didn’t want to take chances as far as profit margin of the film is concerned. Hence, as per reports, the filmmaker has sold its Indian theatrical rights for Rs 50 crore. Yes, that’s right. This means that the moment the film crosses the Rs 100 crore mark (which it is likely to) profits will start trickling in. This is a great deal for distributors to catch hold of.
The same model has been applied to the overseas rights as well, which have been sold for Rs 15 crore. Industry insiders say that a typical Hrithik Roshan film would be sold for Rs 80-85 crore, but since Rakesh is working with his own set of distributors instead of taking the route of collaboration with corporate houses, the prices have been kept in check.
